Mammography is available at South Shore Regional Hospital 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday for booked appointments.

Women can book their appointment directly for a screening mammogram and do not need a doctor's referral. It is recommended that asymptomatic women over 40 have a screening mammogram every year.  Asymptomatic women age 50 and over are recommended to have a screening mammogram every 2 years. Women who have a palpable lump should contact their doctor and will be referred to a hospital for a diagnostic mammogram.

Nova Scotia also offers a mobile mammography service.
Please visit the Nova Scotia Breast Screening Program's website for more information or women over 40 can call 1-800-565-0548 to make an appointment for a screening mammogram. Please have your health card number available.

A map of the mobile route can be found at www.breastscreening.nshealth.ca
